Project Management for IT Professionals-Free-Samples for Students

Question: Discuss the impact of PRINCE2 on IT project performance. As part of your discussion you should address the following: What issues adversely affect the usefulness of PRINCE2 and other project management frameworks in successfully delivering projects? What existing or recommended PRINCE2 features would resolve these problems and issues? Answer: Project Management is necessary for the IT professionals. A proper project management helps the professionals to plan the project and execute the plan in a proper way. The IT professionals handle multiple project at the same time. Therefore, the proper project management helps in the handling of the multiple projects at the same time. The purpose of having the project management is to achieve all the objectives and the goals of the project (Note 2015). There are a number of constraints that are present in the project. The constraints are the scope of the project, the time frame of the project, within which the project has to be completed. The other constraints may be the quality of the project. The integration of the small objectives is necessary for the achievement of the larger objective. There are certain structure that needs to be followed in order to achieve the proper project management. The first principle is the project structure. The project structure has to be defined in a proper manner before approaching with the project. The project structure defines which structure of the project is to be placed where. The next principle of project management is the definition phase (Kerzner and Kerzner 2017). In the definition phase, it is important to define the various goals, objectives and also the problems that may occur while proceeding with the project. The definition of the task of the team members is necessary before the start of the project so that the workers know the exact job that has to be performed. This will help in the reduction of the time and increase the productivity of the employees. The definition phase would also involve the definition of the problems that may occur in the process of the project management. The third principle is the clear understandi ng of the goals, which will help in the proper representation of the task. The transparency of the project status is the clear understanding of the requirement of the task. This will help in the completion of the task at a faster rate and increase the efficiency of the task. The risk recognition is the another important factor, which plays a major role in the project (Turner et al. 2014). The identification of the risk will help in the smooth completion of the task. The identification of the risk and its proper management will help in the completion of the project on time. The issues of the cyber security may hinder the progress of the project or the progress of the work. The handling of the cyber security issues will help in the proper completion of the project. The next principle is the addressing of the disturbances that may occur in the project. The project disturbances that occur may be internal disturbances or the external disturbances(Karaman and Kurt 2015). The internal disturbances involve the dissatisfaction of the higher authorities or the sudden change of plan from the higher authorities of the organization. The external disturbances may involve the sudden change of the requirement from the client. The other rival companies may also put effort in order to hinder the flow of the project. These contribute in the stopping of the work flow and act as resistance in the progress of the project. The next principle is the understanding the responsibility of the project manager. The understanding of the role of the project manager is the most important in the proper completion of the project. The project manager is responsible for the formation of the team and dividing the task among the members of the team (Bustos, L and P Property Management Co 2013). The project manager plans the project that is hand. The project manager gives approval or disapproval to the requirement of the projects based on what is correct and what is wrong. The project manager should have ample idea about the technology that the project is about or the technologies that would be essential for the effective completion of the project. The use of the PRINCE2 framework had a great impact on the IT project framework. The PRINCE2 is a structured method of project management. The PRINCE2 is responsible for the division of the particular project into concepts and stages that is controllable and can be understood (Ferguson 2014). The development of the PRINCE2 concept took place for the projects of information security. The PRINCE2 concept helps in the proper identification and easing the project management skills. There are some basic principles that are involved in this concept or this concept is based on. The first principle is the Continued Business Justification. This principle is to help the project and the business be planned in a proper manner. The next principle is that of the learning from experience, which states the learning based on the previous projects can be applied to the present projects for the better and effective output from the present project. The third principle is the defined roles and responsibi lities, which defines the role and the work that has to be carried out by each of the team member (Bentley 2015). This helps in the proper identification of the work of each of the employees and helps in the effective maintaining of the work flow. The next two principles involve the management by the stages and the management by exception. These two principles involve the proper management of the project by the identification of the risks that may occur. The next and an important principle on which the PRINCE2 concept is based on the focus on the products (Sargeant et al. 2015). The outcome of the project should be properly checked and it should be continuously checked that the products of the project are of good quality and the productivity is good. The concept of the PRINCE2 technology is based on seven themes that are involved. The seven themes that are involved are the understanding of the business case. The second theme involve the organization of the task. The next theme involves the plans, which is the planning of the project (Lianying, Jing and Xinxing 2014). The fourth and the next theme is the identification of the risk that are involved in the project. The change in the project requirements can be made in order to effectively achieve the project requirements. The last and the seventh theme is the progress of the project. The progress involves the checking of the progress of the work of the project. The PRINCE2 method implements the framework by following several processes. The first step of the process involves the starting of the project, where the team of the project is selected and the works is assigned to each of the members of the team. In this step the brief of the project is also given. The next process involve the initiation of the project, which involve the completion of the business case and the initializing of the document of the project. The third process involves the direction of the project, that is the defining of the way in which the project board sees the project (Newton 2016). The fourth process involves the controlling of the stage, which involves the defining of how the each individual stage has to be controlled. This process also involves the way in which the work packages are distributed. The next stage involves the management of the product delivery. This stage serves as a medium of controlling the relation between the project and the team manager. Mainly three processes are involved in the procedure. The acceptance of the project work is the first requirement that needs to be satisfied (Sargeant et al. 2015). Then the execution of the project work is necessary and the delivering of the project is the last part of the completion of the project. The sixth process on which the working of the PRINCE2 depends is the managing of the state boundaries. This process helps in the defining as to how the transition from the one stage to the other stage is taking place. This process helps in the defining of the work flow. The last step of the process is the closing of the project. The closing of the project is obtaining the output of the project in a successful manner. The actions that may be involved for the improvement of the project or the rectification of the project is done in this process. From the essay it can be concluded that the use of the PRINCE2 project framework can be used for the better project management. The use of the framework is based on a number of factors and a number of processes. The use of the PRINCE2 concepts helps in the easy realization of the project requirements and helps in the identification of the risks that may occur in the process of the completion of the project. The use of the concept can help in the reduction of the requirement into understandable and easy concepts. The requirements are reduced to concepts that can be controlled.
